Club History
2008 โ 2026Delhi Daredevils enter the inaugural IPL season, bringing cricket to the capital. Virender Sehwag leads the charge in what becomes a storied franchise history.
The Daredevils reach the IPL semi-finals in just their second season. Sehwag's explosive batting sets the tone for the franchise's attacking brand.
Under New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori, Delhi return to the semi-finals showing the consistency expected of a capital city franchise.
JSW Sports and GMR Group complete a full rebrand โ Delhi Daredevils become Delhi Capitals. The blue and red identity is relaunched to connect more deeply with the city.
The rebranded Capitals reach the playoffs for the first time under their new identity, powered by a young core including Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer.
Delhi Capitals reach the IPL Final in the UAE bubble season, their best ever finish. Despite losing to Mumbai Indians, the campaign underscored the team's arrival at the top.
Rishabh Pant takes over the captaincy. Delhi qualify for the playoffs again, cementing their reputation as a consistent competitor under the new ownership.
Through 2021โ2024 DC remain regular playoff fixtures in the IPL, developing a strong player pipeline including Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje and Yash Dhull.
The IPL 2025 mega auction reshapes the squad. Delhi Capitals retain Axar Patel as captain and anchor the rebuild around Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul and explosive foreign stars.

Delhi Capitals' grassroots development programme nurtures talent from across Delhi and the NCR region. The academy provides world-class coaching, facilities and pathway programmes into the professional game.
The DC pipeline has already produced India internationals including Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje. The next generation of stars is currently progressing through the academy system.
