Originally from Ludhiana, Gurjapneet Singh shifted to Chennai as a 17-year-old to pursue a career in cricket. It was here in the deep South, far away from his original home that the left-arm seamer harnessed his skills. Gurjapneet Singh got his first opportunity to showcase his skills in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Premier League, when he was picked by Dindigul Dragons. In 2023, he moved to Siechem Madurai Panthers and ended the season with 15 wickets.

In 2024, Gurjapneet made his debut for Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy as well as Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He bowled a dream spell of 6/22 in a Ranji game against Saurashtra, dismissing Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck. Gurjapneet was a net bowler for CSK in the 2024 season, and the franchise roped him into their squad for the 2025 IPL season.
