Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan is a tall, nippy seam bowler who hits the pitch hard and can generate extra bounce off a length. When in good rhythm, he can clock upwards of 140kmph on the speedometer consistently. He is a typical modern day fast bowler who has a lot of variations up his sleeves. He can bowl off-cutters, leg-cutters and has an ability to bowl a variety of slower balls.

Avesh made his Ranji debut for Madhya Pradesh against Railways in the 2014-15 season when he was just 17. Before that, he was a part of the 2014 under-19 World Cup team in UAE where he featured only in a couple of games and got a solitary wicket. But he returned as India's spearhead in the next edition of the tournament (2016), claiming 12 wickets in six matches at an average of 15.08. From there, it didn't take long for him to secure his first IPL deal with RCB as he was signed up for the 2017 season.

Avesh was one of the three Indian net bowlers for the Test tour of South Africa in 2018. Basil Thampi and Ankit Rajpoot were the other two fast bowlers who traveled with Avesh to South Africa. Incidentally, he had his best first-class season the same year as he picked up 35 wickets in just 7 matches for MP at a sensational average of 16.37.

However, it was his performance in the IPL that got the ball rolling for him at the international level. Playing for Delhi Capitals in 2021, he had an outstanding season, picking up 24 wickets with an economy rate of 7.37. Later that year, he was picked as one of India's net bowlers for the T20 World Cup, and then in 2022 he made his international debut in both the limited-overs formats. Around that time, he was also picked up by LSG who signed the pace bowler for INR 10 crores at the mega auction. He was one of LSG’s five retentions heading into the 2025 season of the IPL. Although expensive, Avesh was the second highest wicket-taker for LSG with 13 wickets in as many games.
